Who Is CLI?

CLI Consultants

Stuart B. Ervay STUART B. ERVAY
Stu is founder of the CLI, chairman of its board of directors, and professor of school leadership in the Teachers College at Emporia State University. He has conducted research and written extensively in the areas of public school curriculum, school improvement and teacher education. At Emporia State he has served as a director of student teaching, department chair, assistant dean, executive director of a research and development center, and leadership consultant to two regional service centers. In the CLI he serves as a researcher, field consultant, workshop leader, and coordinator of special initiatives. His most current initiative is to assist schools in better defining and implementing true academic leadership.

Carol S. Roach CAROL S. ROACH
Carol is president of the Curriculum Leadership Institute. Before joining the CLI, Carol's professional experiences included serving as an elementary teacher, an elementary science coordinator, instructor in the laboratory school at Emporia State University, and as a curriculum specialist. Currently, in addition to her administrative duties, she serves as editor of all CLI publications. She has played a key role in the development of the CLI Model, particularly in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Carol has presented workshops or served as an on-site education consultant to districts in more than half the states. She has written dozens of articles and books on school reform, curriculum, effective methods of teaching, and citizenship/character education. She is also a highly respected adjunct professor in the Division of School Leadership and Middle/Secondary Teacher Education at Emporia State University.

Rhond Renfro RHONDA RENFRO
Before becoming a full-time CLI consultant, Rhonda was a high school science teacher and also served as curriculum director for her school district, which implemented the CLI Model in the early 1990's. These experiences have provided Rhonda first-hand knowledge of the role of teachers and administrators in the CLI Model, and cause her work with school districts to be truly valued and appreciated. As a CLI consultant, Rhonda has worked with a wide variety of districts across the Midwest and in the South, ranging from small, rural districts to very large metropolitan districts. She is especially proficient in governance issues, and in the creation of aligned curriculum and instructional design, as well as the interpretation of assessment data, and accreditation issues. Rhonda also is an adjunct professor with the Department of School Leadership/Middle and Secondary Teacher Education, The Teachers College, Emporia State University. She teaches online graduate classes in curriculum and instruction.

STACEY BRUTON
Stacey has been involved with the CLI Model throughout most of her teaching careeer. She has been a member of CCC, served on and chaired SACs, and spent four years as a local curriculum director. Most of her teaching experience has been in the area of middle school science at both small and large schools in Kansas. Stacey has been on school improvement teams which focused on assessment preparation, data analysis, and building accreditation. Stacey now serves as a consultant to districts requesting long-term assistance in implementing the CLI Model. She is valued as a consultant by teachers and administrators because they know she has actually experienced the steps of the Model from their point of view.

 

Heddi Craft

HEDDI CRAFT
Heddi's first teaching experience was in a district that chose to implement the CLI Model, so she has first-hand knowledge of how the classroom teacher is impacted by the resulting changes. Her subsequent experience as a teacher in both rural and urban districts has strengthened her belief in the use of the Model, and she has written numerous publications focusing on practical classroom applications. Heddi has conducted training in all aspects of the curriculum development process, and is a specialist in outcome analysis to develop Lesson Plan Resources.

Jack Koehn

 

 

JACK KOEHN
Jack serves as an adjunct CLI consultant and has been associated with Curriculum Leadership Institute since the mid-1990s. Jack’s past experiences have been as a social studies teacher and coach (basketball, baseball, track). He has also served as a multimedia specialist, working part-time at Kansas State University, and also on several grant projects for the National Science Foundation and Department of Army. Jack is currently principal of Canton-Galva High School in Kansas. He has experienced the CLI Model over a long period of time, as teacher, technology coordinator, and principal. These experiences make him a valuable consultant to school districts implementing the model, because he can address issues from these various perspectives.
